Working for a healthier, happier and more sustainable future
People Place Planet Didsbury is a community group with Didsbury at its heart
Together, we are working to reduce pollution, create healthier and safer streets, and help people lower their energy costs—all while building a more sustainable future.
At the core of our work is the fight against climate change. By making simple changes in our everyday lives, we can reduce our carbon footprint, save money, and improve our health and wellbeing.
This movement is for everybody—regardless of your lifestyle, political alignment, or views on how change should happen. There is no single manual for tackling climate change, and we are here to learn from one another.
We aim to share knowledge, support each other through a range of community projects, and advocate for faster action from both local and national decision-makers.
While we are not aligned with any political party, we actively engage with representatives and collaborate with other groups across the city to build partnerships and amplify our impact.
Inaction is not an option
Manchester declared a climate emergency in 2019 and set an ambitious target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2038. Yet with each passing year, we are falling further behind.
The city’s latest Climate Ready Plan sets out clearly where we are now, where we need to be, and the steps required to close that gap—but progress depends on action at every level.
Didsbury is one of the highest-emitting areas in Manchester, which means what we do locally truly matters. Our community has a critical role to play in whether the city can meet its targets.
The challenge is significant—but it is still within our power to change course.
We can still make this happen

We are a fully volunteer-led group, supported by a small amount of grant funding from a range of sources, including Manchester City Council and the The National Lottery Community Fund.
We have lots of ideas, but like many community groups, we’re limited by time, resources, skills, contacts, and funding.
If you’d like to get involved in any way at all, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you have time to contribute, skills to share, ideas to suggest, or simply want to find out more, please get in touch at pppdidsbury@gmail.com.
We’re a small, friendly, and approachable group, and everyone is welcome.
Everybody can contribute
If you’re able to spare a few pounds, your contribution will go directly towards supporting our ongoing work tackling climate change in our local community.
Every donation, big or small, helps us continue and grow our activities.
If you’d like to contribute or find out more, please contact us at pppdidsbury@gmail.com.
If you’d like to join us in the fight for a sustainable future and can offer a little time, knowledge, or skills, we’d love you to become a member of our group.

There is no cost or formal obligation to becoming a member of People Place Planet Didsbury. What you will gain is a connection to a group of like-minded, committed people who are working together to make a difference.
